It's April. Do you know where you're Cory is?
Man, I really don't know why you guys let me get away with the things that I do. 6 months since my last post? You guys are slacking.
Well, I guess a brief update is in order. Let's just cover the big ones.
Hmm. Halloween saw a great night. I spent the entire night pantsless. In other words, happy.
Thanksgiving was my second away from home but my first cooking. The turkey was amazing, but the stuffing was what sold it.
Christmas was my first away from my home, though I was welcomed very warmly into that of another very amazing family in a little English town.
New Years was yet another spent without plans to start. In the end I passed it with some kids I knew watching fireworks on the beach from the other side of the bay.
Valentine's Day was spent in a chilly little German town with two lovely ladies. A karaoke bar followed by relocation to a bedroom full of asians may or may not have been involved. The days after were filled with snow covered IEP reunions, sightseeing, and much art.
Steak and Blowjob day remained uncelebrated.
By St. Paddy's day I had already moved and was 2 weeks into my new job while enjoying an unseasonable warmth.
Alright, that about covers it up to this month. For those of you who are not aware, or whose memories are as bad as mine these days, I have moved from lovely little Santander to the highly industrious Bilbao to start working my internship. That bit's been going well enough. I'm having much fewer nervous breakdowns than I was last summer. I guess that means that I'm finding some occupational direction here. Splendid. Prior to moving here I was granted the distinct pleasure of being visited by not one but four lovelies from home, which did a great deal for my sanity.
I had yet another birthday this year. The 23rd in a long line. This one, much like last year's, would almost have gone by unnoticed by me, had I not been spending it on the amazing Easter Break road trip vacation to the south of Spain to end all amazing Easter Break roadtrip vacations to the south of Spain with two friends, the now infamous Andrew and Jenn, who were more than willing to remind me. The trip lasted all of 6 days and brought us through such amazing cities as: Granada, Málaga, Sevilla, and Segovia. Also, I got to drive. This was my true motive in deciding to take the trip, as you might have guessed.
During the time after the trip, the past week, I've been feeling pretty isolated and it's kind of bogging me down. I should really resolve to get out and get a new hobby or something. Something that will let me meet people and kill some time. Both of these things sounds great. The unfortunate bit is that I only have 5 hours a day after work where I am not supposed to be sleeping. I know this is normal, but I'm not used to it. It's the same problem I had last summer. Today I have taken joy from a blog from and about Providence that I've been following on Google Reader, as well as music on my Itune's shuffle, and this blog, which I've also discovered today on Reader: http://jchandmade.typepad.com/jc_handmade/archives.html
It's full of things that I've never actually done in terms of crafty things, but it's inspiring to see someone so productively creating things. Also inspiring are the really well done photos and the fact that the woman seems to have a really solid family situation going on. Her little girls seem happy, active, and involved in her craftiness. This clearly reflects that I miss both my access to crafty things and my family. On a related note, I will be home in about 18 weeks. That doesn't sound like a terrifically long period of time. It's way too early to be counting days.
Your latest assignment:
Give me suggestions for new hobbies. They should but do not necessarily have to be group oriented. What can a person do around town for perhaps unconventional fun? What conventional fun am I missing out on? Ask your friends.
